Learn these ways to increase milk supply significantly in just 2 weeks!
Having a low milk supply is such a bummer. I know! And to tell you honestly, it’s easier to give breastfeeding up altogether if you feel like your breasts are letting you down. I mean, it should provide you milk letdowns and not disappoint you and your baby, right? But then, worry no more, Momma! Because in this post, I will enumerate everything that I did that gave me amazing results. Here are 10 proven ways to increase milk supply in just 2 weeks!
10 proven ways to increase milk supply in 2 weeks
1. Unlimited latching
Yes, baby on the boobs! There’s no other way to start all this in the first place but to keep offering your breasts to your baby. The very essence of breastfeeding is latching after all. Do it skin-to-skin, too, it helps build strong attachment and bond between you and the baby.
I always follow this rule of thumb in my breastfeeding journey: The more the baby latches, the more your body produces milk. It is that simple! The baby helps the breasts build supply according to their need. So, latch, latch, latch!
2. Drink lots of water and other fluids.
I don’t know about you, but in my case (being a not-so-water-drinking type before babies), water became my best friend as I always get thirsty! I like the feeling of being refreshed and fully hydrated. I even bought a 3-liter water bottle and kept it beside me at all times so that I don’t need to run to the kitchen every time I need to hydrate.
Hydration is very crucial for breastfeeding moms. Water and other refreshing fluids are allowed. But make sure to avoid the ones that will dry up your breast milk! Read this post for the best drinks for breastfeeding moms.
3. Eat a healthy and balanced diet.
Breastfeeding does not only make you thirsty, but it also makes you hungry! A baby relies on you and your body for nutrition, which is a typical and apparent reason why nursing makes you hungry.
Eating a healthy and balanced diet is the best option. It nourishes both you and the baby. I’ve found healthy meal prep ideas here that are easy to prepare! Go check it out.
Cravings for unhealthy comfort foods are natural, though! It’s perfectly okay to give in but keep it minimal.
Oh, this is my favorite! I’d have to say my cravings for sweets were compensated by these lactation cookies and benefited greatly in increasing milk supply which is a plus!
There are DIY lactation cookie recipes that you can try yourself. But if you don’t have much time for baking, these lactation cookies are my best recommendations for you. Lots of flavors to choose from as well!
5. Add moringa supplements to your diet.
If you’re not a sweet tooth type, try this instead. Moringa or malunggay supplements are a go-to for breastfeeding moms wanting a boost in their breast milk supply. A very effective one at that!
6. Massage breasts for stimulation
There are times when milk just wouldn’t come out quickly. It takes time. So, to encourage faster letdown, it is best to massage breasts for milk stimulation.
This happens mostly when your newborn baby may have missed a supposed feeding time from probably a good long nap, for instance. This results in your breasts becoming engorged and uncomfortable for mommy. Hot compress and massage will help!
7. Pump
Pumping can help increase milk supply for breastfeeding and pumping moms alike!
In fact, many moms have successfully provided breast milk for their little ones by pumping alone! There are reasons, such as the baby won’t latch, prefers the bottle instead, or moms working away from home so their babies can’t feed whenever they want to. So they become exclusively pumping moms.
As for direct-latching moms, keeping a breast pump at hand is necessary. You will need it for instances like when breasts become engorged. Pumping helps drain the breasts and will help relieve engorgement and encourage replenishment, thus increasing milk output. Don’t forget to store the milk for later feeding!
8. Ditch the formula
Do you know that the more you give formula to your baby, the less your breasts will produce milk?
Ditching the formula altogether is something that I believe contributed significantly to boosting my milk supply. It was a great decision from the very start.
Well, I gave formula to my newborn the first few days of her life as I lacked knowledge. Thanks to the online community and mommy bloggers out there! Without them and their helpful advice, I wouldn’t reach my goal of exclusively breastfeeding my baby until 6 months. Well, guess what? I am still at it 3 years strong! No signs of weaning yet.
9. Sleep well
I know that it is sometimes impossible to rest while having a newborn, but make it possible as much as you can, Momma!
Trust me, you need your restful sleep and naps! It’s beneficial to boosting milk supply and healing and, most importantly, helps your sanity.
10. Keep away from stress.
I know some moms who stressed out so much at the thought of having a low milk supply that they finally gave up.
It is sad, but I completely understand their decision. Yet, it would be best to stop stressing about anything because we know how much it impacts our health, more so our breast milk production.

Signs of Increased Breast Milk Supply
It’s great to be able to have these proven ways implemented!
But here’s a good question, how do you know whether or not your milk supply has increased?
- Your newborn will ultimately become less fuzzy, meaning she is satisfied and goes to sleep soundly. The key is latch, latch, latch! Do it unlimited!
- Your breasts will feel full and ready whenever the feeding time comes. The key is to empty both of the breasts completely every feeding session.
- You will see milk leakage from time to time. This a good sign that breasts are in the establishing supply stage! Get your breast pads ready!
- Pumping moms are able to pump out 2-4 oz of milk (and increase as the baby grows) on each breast for every pumping session. The key is to keep up with the pumping schedule, never miss a session, regularly hydrate well, and take lactation cookies and moringa supplements.
Takeaway
It can be very frustrating when you feel like you’re experiencing a low milk supply. I’ve been there, done that!
But having the desire to give your baby only the best is more powerful.
Take note of the above ways that have helped a lot of other moms and me increase our milk supply!
I can’t stress this enough, but latch, latch, latch! There’s a reason why it is there at the top!
And also, keep hydrated, rest well, and take your lactation cookies and moringa supplements.
