How to Use A Planner Effectively

If you’re a planner newbie, or just not sure how to use your planner, this guide will help. We’ll go over the basics of, what’s in a planner, and how to set it up for success.

HOW TO USE A PLANNER FOR BEGINNERS

Let me first take you into my planning journey.

Now, let’s move on to the main topic of this post:

Planner Tips for Beginners

A basic setup includes:

A MONTHLY CALENDAR

The monthly calendar is the most essential part of your planner. It’s where you’ll schedule your appointments, birthdays, and other events.

The monthly calendar is divided into two sections. The top section shows one week per page and has boxes for each day of the week. In this section, you would write in all your monthly appointments and events.

A WEEKLY CALENDAR

Accommodate all of your appointments, meetings, and deadlines in this section. The weekly calendar is the backbone of your planner, so make sure you’re using it! It can be as simple as writing down what day it is or as detailed as putting every appointment on your schedule that week.

If you want to keep things simple, write down just the day of the week, followed by any major events that need to be noted (like birthdays). This way, you still have room for notes and other things that might come up during the week!

A “TO-DO” LIST

There are two ways you can use this section: either create a list of things you need to accomplish each day/week or use it as a place to capture ideas as they come up throughout your day. Either way works!

NOTES SECTION

This section is a place where you can write anything that comes to mind that needs your attention, like important reminders or tasks that do not have a specific time or date.

Or it can be a place to write down your thoughts and ideas that you would want to remind yourself of again in the future. Or it could serve as a journaling section.

The Notes Section can be anything you want it to be. So utilize it to your own liking.

TAKEAWAY

Lack of planning is one of the main reasons why moms find their lives so hectic. It’s easy to feel completely overwhelmed and forget what tasks are due, when, and where. So learning how to use a planner is helpful. Planning helps me stay organized and feel more relaxed in my mothering duties.

As a mom of a toddler and a grade-schooler, I have to juggle a lot. It can be overwhelming, and it’s nice to hand some tasks to technology. My planners kept me organized and stress-free, so I could focus more on what matters most – spending quality time with my family.
